Will chlorine bleach really fade rust stains on fabric? 🧺

Many people think chlorine bleach lightens every kind of stain, but for rust the evidence says the opposite.

A consumer guide published by a US university states that chlorine bleach should not be used on rust stains because it makes them darker. Instead, use a laundry rust remover exactly as directed on the label, then rinse thoroughly. Whether a product is safe for a particular fabric, check the care label and follow the fabric or machine manufacturer's instructions.
