🧺 Drying linen bone-dry can leave it stiff and shorten its life. Try stopping while it's still slightly damp
For laundries and hotels, stiff, fast-wearing linen means higher costs, and one cause is drying for too long. University extension guides in the US and laundry trade articles give the following guidance:
1. Linen dried bone-dry feels stiff and looks more wrinkled
2. The guides recommend removing linen while it is still slightly damp
3. Over-drying makes fabric more prone to shrinkage, lint and wrinkles
4. Over-drying scorches the fibers and shortens the life of the linen
5. Set the dryer's moisture level or time to stop at the set point, and don't let staff add extra time just in case; for the right values, follow the machine's manual
According to the trade articles, over-drying shortens linen life and adds to linen handling and labor.
The same guides say linen should not be stored while still damp.
