Don't dry cotton and polyester in the same load

🧺 Can cotton towels and polyester uniforms be dried together in the same load?
In hotels, factories and coin laundries, mixing different fabrics in one dryer load is common. GINETEX, the association that owns the international care-labelling symbols, states that cotton and synthetics do not reach the required moisture level at the same time, so only items with the same drying time should be dried together. University extension guides in the US give the following advice:
1. Dry cotton and polyester in separate loads
2. Dry synthetics and blends in slightly smaller loads
3. Use a program with a cool-down for poly-cotton; if the machine doesn't have one, reduce or turn off the heat for the last 10 minutes
4. Remove synthetics as soon as the cycle ends
5. Set the time and temperature according to the machine's manual
If they are dried together, one fabric may dry before the other, so separate loads let each fabric dry in the time that suits it.
