Microfiber: wash separately, no chlorine, no fabric softener

🧺 Can microfiber be washed together with towels?
Microfiber cloths and mop heads are used for cleaning in hospitals and businesses, but the heat of industrial washers and dryers is often too high for this fabric. Based on a US EPA case study and advice from microfiber suppliers, do the following:
1. Wash microfiber as its own load, not mixed with cotton or other linty fabrics
2. Don't use chlorine bleach; if bleach is needed, use a non-chlorine type
3. Don't use fabric softener
4. Don't wash it in the normal hot linen process, because the EPA states that industrial machine heat is often too high for microfiber
5. Before drying, check the fabric manufacturer's label and the supplier's advice; the supplier cited limits dryer heat to 49-60 °C
If these steps are skipped, the supplier states that cotton lint makes microfiber perform poorly and fabric softener clogs the fibers. This is the supplier's advice, not test results.
