🔥 It's widely believed that if linen dries slowly, you need to add drying time. But is that true?

Not always. According to the US Fire Administration (USFA), heavy items taking longer to dry, or items coming out hotter than usual at the end of a cycle, are signs of a clogged exhaust duct. An American Laundry News article also states that linen coming out damp or needing extra drying usually means the air intake or exhaust is blocked. Lint is highly flammable and can build up in the machine and the ductwork. US data found that failure to clean is the leading factor in dryer fires in homes and residential buildings (34% according to USFA figures). Adding drying minutes is therefore just drying longer without fixing the root cause.

What you should do: record the normal drying time for each type of linen. When drying time increases, check the hot-air duct first, and clean the duct at the intervals set in the machine's manual.
