Let hot linen from the dryer cool down before stacking

Ironed linen should cool before it is folded and stacked, a small step that makes the laundry room safer 🔥

In laundry rooms where linen comes off the ironer all day, freshly ironed linen is often still hot. One ironer manufacturer's manual warns that very hot linen can catch fire spontaneously, and so recommends letting ironed linen cool down before packing or stacking it.

Steps you can take right away
1. Do not pack or stack freshly ironed linen while it is still very hot
2. Wait until the linen has cooled down
3. Then pack or stack it as usual
4. Always follow the machine's manual when operating the ironer

If this step is skipped, linen stacked while still very hot carries a risk of spontaneous combustion, as the ironer manufacturer's manual states.
