Cutting extraction time saves minutes but costs you at the dryer

Does cutting extraction time to speed things up really save money? 🤔

Does trimming a few minutes off the spin really make the wash cycle finish faster?

The answer is that it isn't worth it, because the time you save is paid back at the dryer. An article in a laundry trade journal states that longer extraction removes more water from the linen, and that cutting extraction time to increase throughput leads to higher energy use. According to estimates by an industry consultant, every 1% of moisture above target adds about 4% to the energy used for drying and ironing, and evaporating water in a dryer can cost up to about 15 times more than extracting it mechanically. These figures should be treated as estimates, not precise measurements. What you should do: don't cut extraction time to gain time, and set extraction time according to the machine's manual.
