Has the door lock on your laundry's washers been tested? 🔒
One industrial washer manufacturer's manual lists testing the door lock and interlock as part of the daily inspection. At the start of the day, owners can run 3 checks: the machine must not start while the door is open or not yet locked, and the door must not open while the machine is running.
1. Leave the door open and try to start a wash. The machine must not run
2. Close the door without locking it and try to start a wash. The machine must not run
3. While the machine is running, try to pull the door open. The door must not open
Procedures may differ by model, so follow your machine's manual. If any check fails, stop using the machine and have a technician inspect it.
