Feeding small pieces across the whole roll helps the roll padding stay in good condition for longer 🧺
Roll padding is a part that needs looking after in flatwork ironing. One ironer manufacturer's manual recommends feeding small pieces using the full length of the roll, rather than always at the same spot.
How to feed small pieces
1. Alternate between left, center and right
2. Use the full width of the roll
3. Don't always feed at the same spot
The manual states that this helps the roll padding stay in good condition for longer and reduces dark marks on the linen. It also notes that if linen comes out of the machine at an angle, this may be a sign that the roll padding has worn on one side from always feeding in the same position. Always follow the manual for your model.
